My cell phone took a walk yesterday, so I'm not reachable there at this time :p | | Sunday, March 9th, 2008 | | 8:37 pm |
Today, I learned that high-end men's suits are very expensive.
The cool part is, they're also made to fit people who have things like muscles, and tailoring is part-and-parcel of getting the suit, as frequently, they're made for you, rather than only being available in "off the rack" sizes that may or may not actually fit.
I am now forced to consider how necessary owning a good suit is to my future, as they qualify as an investment.
I am happy, however, with the way I look in one. | | Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 | | 8:21 pm |
Red Car has been donated to NPR, and I just cleaned out the majority of the garbage and left a note for whoever gets it next about some of it's finicky habits, and on how to remove the CD of random music I decided to leave in the player for laughs. It'll get picked up in the morning.
I can neither confirm nor deny tearing up, but I've had that car for 10 years, and I'm going to miss it. | | 12:03 am |

ADHD-I, and a return to being myself After the Wellbutrin-induced seizure, I was swapped over to Strattera SR for ADHD-I control about 10 months after my initial diagnosis. The easiest way to see when this happened would be to look back at this journal... the transition of meds is marked by a sudden lack of posting of any real content since the end of October '07.
The last few months have been an exercise in frustration and irritation. Being on Strattera was a mild improvement over being completely unmedicated, but all of the long-term execution and short-term "what needs to be done" problems returned, leaving me feeling ineffective and depressed, and upsetting and angering Blue to no end. After getting around some of the old "nothing's wrong with me, I don't need a change" B.S. that returned once the Wellbutrin was out of my system, and with a great deal of help from Blue, I was able to internalize the need for a change, and move forwards with my treatment.
I've been working with the specialist I've been seeing for treatment to try and avoid stimulant-based drug therapy, but the contraindication for Wellbutrin and ineffectiveness of Strattera had left only a couple of options, primarily a Strattera-antidepressant cocktail that seemed unlikely to address my particular issues anyways (since the depression was pretty obviously stemming from the "failing at life" part of ADHD-I).
I've been changed to Adderall XR, 30mg, once in the morning. The medication is most easily explained as "mixed amphetamine salts," which kick in within half an hour or so of taking them and last until the day starts to wind down. After a week or so of getting used to them (primarily characterized by me having a hard time getting to sleep), I've seen a massive improvement in simply being able to get stuff done. I've spent 25 years being thought of as a procrastinator, and disorganized to the point of being a failure despite having potential... it's kind of amazing to suddenly be able to do things when they need to be done, without prodding or reminding, and without it being the last minute.
I've even been able to start planning a wedding. Blue and I are getting married in August, and it's high time we start figuring that one out. :)
Thanks all, for bearing with me for who-knows-how-many-years. I feel like myself, finally, instead of being an impaired version of myself who can't get anything done, and I'm truly happy about it. | | Saturday, February 9th, 2008 | | 10:14 pm |

SUPER BOWL Anyone not got plans for watching the Super Bowl yet? There's a party at Colin's house, starting around 3:00 PM, with kickoff at 3:30. Bring beverages, chips, buffalo wings, or your food of choice, and come watch the game :) | | Sunday, January 20th, 2008 | | 7:40 pm |
Mixing: Orange Buck, Red Dog Having grown quite tired of my dedication to the Harvey Wallbanger, Blue got me a mixologist's kit for Christmas, which has quickly expanded into tools, a book, a dozen juices and sodas, a huge variety of liquors, and piles of various citrus fruits. When I find a drink I particularly like, I'll post the makings of it under the "mixing" tag. ( Orange Buck )( Red Dog ) | | Monday, November 12th, 2007 | | 2:38 pm |

Anyone got an old AGP vid card they're not using? I'm assembling a donor box for a non-profit, and the Radeon I was going to use is smoked. | | Saturday, October 6th, 2007 | | 4:57 am |
I'm off to Tucson until Tuesday. Later, all :) | | Monday, October 1st, 2007 | | 12:12 pm |
Through 5pm (presumably Pacific time) today, Livejournal is offering free $30 donation gift certificates for the charity DonorsChoose.org to anyone (presumably a LJ account is required) who emails them at donorschoose@sixapart.com and asks for one. More information can be found here. I'm impressed by the idea of the organization... it's sort of a clearinghouse for charity needs, and has everything from large reconstruction projects to individual teachers who need funds to get something for their classroom. Go check it out, and donate some of sixapart's money to something you like the idea of. (thanks to galith for pointing this one out) | | Saturday, September 29th, 2007 | | 11:50 pm |
It's been a good summer to be a gamer. Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, World in Conflict and Quake Wars make the computer part of me happy, and Shadowrun 4 has finally gotten back on track with releases, with Augmentation having hit stores and Arsenal on its way. Anybody playing something I've missed? | | Saturday, September 8th, 2007 | | 7:01 pm |
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5hkgDM3fH2YMZ1IlmmajnFJlhE14QBOGOTA (AFP) — A feckless stick-up man chose the wrong target when he was beaten and hospitalized in an attempted robbery of a karate school in Bucaramanga in northwestern Colombia, police said. "The man entered the academy with a firearm, but could not intimidate the dozens of students, who fortunately reacted and disarmed him," said Colonel Julio Cesar Santoyo, police commander in the province of Santander. Police arrived at the scene only to take the would-be robber to hospital for treatment of multiple contusions at the hands of the karate students. I've been working essentially 24 hours on, 24 hours off, rinse, repeat for the last 3 weeks. I'm taking a weekend now, thank you... no more work till Tuesday.
Post volume might increase with sleep :) | | Monday, August 13th, 2007 | | 10:50 am |
Anyone interested in a Yugoslavian M59/66A1 SKS semiautomatic rifle, 7.62x39mm, 10 round internal magazine fed with stripper clips, with folding bayonet and grenade launcher adaptation? I can get a case of ten for about 1600 bucks, but I can't shoot ten rifles at the same time. Current Mood: amused | | Thursday, August 9th, 2007 | | 3:11 pm |
96 hours of work this week. Current Mood: tired | | Friday, August 3rd, 2007 | | 9:19 pm |

Here's the July 15 game mailing that I've gotten. Check it out, folks. A good time to show up would probably be around 11 o'clock... you might be a bit early, but people start filtering in between there and noon.

Sarah is running an extended day game on Sunday the 15th of July. If you've been feeling the itch, it's time to scratch! Come and play if you want, volunteer to NPC if you like (or if you're not sure what to do), or just bring some charcoal and hot dogs - have some lunch and remember how much fun you used to have with the rest of us crazies. Whether you play or not, it'll still be fun to see you. You can reach Sarah at toothpickelf@hotmail.com or me at fallen@fromgrace.com . Mind you, I don't know anything about the plot, I'm just helping out where I can to facilitate things, so direct those NPC questions to her! Raoul PS. If you're wondering about the rules, check them out at www.users.qwest.net/~stpierrejraoul/GOA/GOA.rtf |
